Greetings and peace from Pakistan!!!
First of all I humbly want to share our response with the trauma affected school children by Lahore Bombing on 11th of March, 2008. It is our self help programme with the school children and their parents to lessen the fear, phobias and trauma after this brutal scene.
At present the following are complains which our self help group is treating:
1. Feeling of insecurity from sudden unknown harms and hits;
2. Shakes and shivering upon any noise.
3. Weeping upon listening upon the names of their killed and injured of the known ones;
4. Horror dreams;
5. Upset stomachs;
6. Headaches;
7. Sweating;
8. Shouting for nothing;
9. Fear of smoke colors and schools widow glass similarities everywhere.
10. Sleep disorders;
11. Fear from loneliness;
12. Fear from Dark;
13. Fear from ambulance sirens;
14. Hot temper and rebellious attitudes;
15. Pessimism about life and God;
And many others
Our Counseling Methods are:
1. Progressive Muscle Relaxation
Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a tension-reducing technique that involves the systematic tension and relaxing of specific muscle groups. Starting with the muscles in the face, the participant completely tenses all muscles and holds the tension for several seconds (usually to the count of ten), completely relaxes for the same period of time, then repeats the process with the next set of muscles (the neck, the shoulders, etc.) until every area of the body has been relaxed. With practice, the participant learns to completely relax the body within seconds and keep from storing up tension and stress in the body, a practice known as Deep Muscle Relaxation.
2. Sleep Therapy
With various physical and mental discipline exercises, yoga and meditation methods
3. Taking them back to their Sweet Memories
Digging the thoughts, words and doing that are their sweet memories treasure through:
Taking interest in them (even being silly);
Weaving (may be not real) the similar stories to deepen their happiness; joys and contentment;
Promise to keep them confidential if they require or if accessed it to be secrete.
4. Heroism
Sharing the stories in which people with crisis hold courage and fought back with such mishaps through portrayed them as HEROES. This would bring their vision to be noteworthy as HEROES/Heroines.
5. Scream therapy; Sand bag beating therapy;
